Images from Kabuki by David Mack.
Kabuki is a story told through memories, which induces the beautiful lyrical illustrations and collage, the collage element is something unique in comic styled works that adds something to the story unfurling slowly in front of the reader.
Laura Callaghan
Her tonal designs and unique panel styles add an original and cohesive design to her imagery. She often keeps whole stories within 4 colours/ tones that sets the mood of the story.
Here by Richard Mcguire
'Here' is a story told with skips in through time and overlapping panels to show time lapses and skips.
'Akira' by Katsuhiro Otomo
Akira is a dystopian thriller with emphasised tones of red.

The dual bound book inspired my idea of combining 2 walks of life into one book and story. The double binding technique is good for poems and non linear narrative.
Visual Editions
Compositions No. 1
This binding method is a good way to make the reader interact with the story by putting the right pages together much like a puzzle and figuring out the correct story order.
Visual Editions
Tree of codes
This is an interesting way of portraying text in a book that would work very well in a comic and has also been teased in Kabuki. The format allows fragments of imagery to be seen behind each page of text that could be a unique format to tell a story in.
King City by Brandon Graham
Graham's world of 'king city' is vast and immersive and also incorporates the speech bubbles into the artwork. Panels often overlap each other much like 'Here' by Richard Mcguire.
